The Flow Entry System

This project explores the integration of storage, seating, and display within a single continuous form, designed to enhance the experience of entry and transition within a space. The piece combines multiple functions into a unified system that responds to everyday routines such as arriving, organising, and preparing to leave. The design is defined by a flowing, continuous frame that wraps around and connects each functional element, creating a sense of movement and cohesion. A circular mirror is integrated into the composition, reinforcing the idea of self-reflection and preparation within the entry space.

Functionality is refined through user-focused details. Enclosed storage is achieved through doors that conceal adjustable shelving, allowing users to adapt the internal layout according to different shoe sizes and storage needs. The hanging system incorporates dual-height hooks, ensuring accessibility for users of varying heights and improving overall usability. Material selection plays a key role in defining the design. African walnut is used to highlight recessed areas, creating depth and contrast against the lighter beech wood, which forms the primary structure. Brass is introduced in the handles and hooks, adding a refined accent while emphasising points of interaction. By combining adaptability, accessibility, and sculptural form, the Flow Entry System transforms a transitional space into a purposeful and inclusive experience.
